Andor: The Movie Omnibus (Four Movies; Nothing Removed) [COMPLETE!] - Thanks to NFBisms!
Time

Sticking with your one-word titles, I would suggest “call” or “calling” for episode one, given both Cassian’s search for his sister, Syril’s sense of duty and the literal call leading both Luthen and the Morlana security dispatch to Ferrix.

For part two I would suggest “Struggle”.

What about movies one and two? For one I’d go ‘Fugitive’ but he’s not quite that. A few characters have something they desperately want in this one, but I can’t think of a word for that.

Maybe “Longing” could convey that.

These things aside, can I get a link, please?

The naming of these shows tells you the very purpose of them.

Take Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Andor, Loki, The Falcon and the Wintersoldier, etc. these are working titles at best, bland descriptions of the shows designed to lure people into a Disney+ subscription.

They are designed to fill the shelf and sell the illusion of a variety of quality shows.

The idea that anyone can use the force is introduced in A New Hope

That’s still not how the Force works. You don’t go from level one to one hundred in a matter of minutes, especially if you’re Sabine and didn’t really learn anything.

Luke went from struggling with a training droid to guiding a proton torpedo into an exhaust port within one day. Sabine went from sensing Ahsoka’s presence to pushing a guy a few feet within a few days.

Luke is naturally strong with the Force. Sabine isn’t. Nor does she seem to resonate strongly with the ways of the Jedi.

You don’t see a problem, from a narrative point of view, with the idea that anybody can become a powerful Force user, despite having no aptitude for it, and putting in minimal effort?

…I suppose that’s an opinion one could hold.

Yes?

“The Force is an energy field that binds all living things. It surrounds us, and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”

“The Force resides in all living things. But you have to be open to it.”

Practically every mentor character in Star Wars screams that anyone can use the Force, so long as they are open to it. Sabine’s arc is about opening up. The implication that one needs to be naturally strong in order to excel in the Force is antithetical to what Star Wars preaches.

Qui-Gon Jinn wants to have a talk with you about midi-chlorians.

Ahsoka addresses this:
“Talent is a factor”

I used ElevenLabs Voice Cloning. I only used one 5 second reference clip of Huyang dialogue to get that quality. It’s nowhere near perfect, but if someone spend time training the A.I., I think you could get a near perfect Huyang clone. I also pitched down a second track of the same dialogue and lower and raised the volume in certain spots to make it have the wobbly robot sound since the cloned voice didn’t really sound robot enough for me.

The Ahsoka lines such as “Thanks.” and “Where’s Sabine?” are also ElevenLabs Cloned lines.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am working on the fake-map-idea and there is no way that this works without new voice lines.

That would give a justifiable reason why Ahsoka seeks out Sabine, because if the map is merely an ornate replica, opposed to an encoded device, then the engravings on the ball are the only lead they have and it makes sense to seek out an art historian. In this case, it feels natural that Hera and Ahsoka think of Sabine because she is probably the most knowledgeable person on that field that they know.

Furthermore, it allows us to remove Shin‘s retrieval of the map and thus get to Seatos faster.

Here is the basic outline that I have in mind.

-Morgan is freed
-Ahsoka finds the map (optional)
-Hera briefs Ahsoka; we learn from Huyang that the map is a fake and that it holds no information beyond the imprinted graphics; Hera suggest to seek out Sabine
-Sabine introduction
-Ahsoka arrives at Lothal;
After the small talk about Ahsoka‘s home, Sabine remarks that the witches were nomadic too and points to a symbol on the map. Then Huyang appears to speak Ahsoka about his lightsaber analysis. Sabine asks Huyang about intergalactic travel and he recites his line about hyperspace routes following the migration paths of star whales.

Add the hologram of the two galaxies (without the pathway) to the empty cargo hold after Ahsoka returns from her conversation with Huyang.
-Sabine returns home and gears up
-Morgan opens the map on Seatos
-Ahsoka picks up Sabine at the fresco and Huyang reports that his analysis of the aforementioned migration paths yielded only one world connected with the nightsisters: Seatos.

Once I am back home I will try to train a voice and get a few samples out.

Overall I liked the finale. However, I was sad that Shin and Baylan were absent.

I am puzzled that Shin did not join Thrawn on his conquest, and instead sought out the raiders instead. I imagine that this plot will play into the Knights of Ren Story. Sadly, I never cared for them because they never appeared to be anything more than backdrop characters.

Baylans discovery on Peridea, however, sparks my interest. The statue he stood upon looked like the father from the mortis arc and the figure next to him looked like the son. With that in mind, I guess that Baylan is looking for Abeloth and that they will reintroduce her into the canon as the founder of the nightsister clan.

Inspired by Vladius’ ideas I spend my time sitting on the train pondering about Dooku’s motivations and his role in the story. Logically, I came up with an idea that is practically impossible to pull off in editing, but I still wanted to share it.

The idea was to turn Dooku into the Anti-Vader and mimic the Luke/Vader dynamic with Qui-Gon and Dooku, but the opposite outcome.

Dooku enters the narrative of TPM after Qui-Gon encounters Anakin. Prompted by this meeting, Qui-Gon contacts his former master in search of guidance. Here we learn that Dooku left the order to fight the rising corruption in the Republic and that he is disillusioned with the Jedi due to their complacency to challenge the injustice taking place in the Senate. However, we are not told that he turned to the Dark Side. The scene ends with Dooku strengthening Qui-Gon’s resolve to train the boy.

After the flight from Tatooine and the encounter with Maul, Qui-Gon connects the dots and realizes that it was Dooku who gave away their location and that he is in league with the Trade Federation and the Sith.
Dooku explains that he has realized that something new can only flourish in the decease of the old and intends to force the Republic to fail. Qui-Gon objects to this approach for the casualties it will cause and tries to talk Dooku out of it. However, mistaking his friend for the mind driving the plot behind the Trade Federation, Qui-Gon decides against informing the council because he fears the escalation their involvement might cause. Against Dooku’s warning, Qui-Gon accompanies the Queen to Naboo to serve the people.

After Qui-Gon’s death, Dooku confronts Sidious, blaming Qui-Gon’s death on Sidious ploy. The Sith Lord, however, convinces Dooku that his former apprentice’s death was caused by the Jedi’s ineptitude in supporting the Queen’s quest with a suitable force, as well as their dogmatic obedience to their code. He lies, that Obi-Wan pressed to capture Gunray after the destruction of his own apprentice and that he left Qui-Gon to die. Blinded by his loss and the prospect of their scheme to uproot the Republic, Dooku falls to the Dark Side, now not just condemning the Jedi for their lack of action in preventing the corruption of the Republic, but blaming them directly for the decay of the Republic.

With this change, Anakin grows up seeing the effects of Qui-Gon’s sacrifice on Dooku, and when Luke confronts him on the Death Star, he understands what follows, if Palpatine wins and realizes the mistake he made in joining with him.

I would love to see Huyang join Baylan in an endeavour to establish a remade Jedi/whatever-you-wanna-call-it order in the new galaxy.
Baylan is clearly driven by the thought of a new, improved order, and Huyang has fallen out of time with the fall of the Jedi. It makes sense for them to start over again.

Too bad Ray Stevenson died. Baylan has proven to be the most popular character in this series.

This is not an adventure befitting a movie or TV series anyway, but it would be a nice ending for their character arcs throughout the Ahsoka series.
A sort of fairy tale ending.

Honestly, the battle droids and general evilness alone should be enough to connect the Separatists and the Trade Federation. Both organizations are hilariously generic in the sense that we learn practically nothing about their precise motivations. All that is given in the movies is that the Trade Federation doesn’t want to pay taxes because they are greedy, and the Separatists? Well, they are characterized by their dislike for the Republic and the Jedi. Based on the abundance of big companies present at Dooku’s meeting, we can infer that they share the same bland motivation as the Trade Federation, money.

So, I think the distinction between the two can be put in the crawl of ROTS, without losing anything.

Actually, the bigger question is why Dooku is on their team. His supposed motivation to leave the Jedi and the Republic is the corruption of the senate, but the first thing he does after leaving is founding the League of the Uber-corrupt, super-capitalist of the galaxy. It just doesn’t make any sense. I mean, what greater good could justify this absurd action against his actual beliefs?

Yeah, visually it’s a no brainer. All the battle droids, droidekas, and neimodians are there from the start of ROTS. I just mean if I’m putting the episode 2 stuff at the end of TPM. When Palpatine says that he’s making an army to counter the increasing threats of the Separatists, it should be established that the Trade Federation is one of the groups of Separatists he’s talking about. They’re part of a trend. If anything I think it would make sense to put it in the crawl of TPM that the Federation is a Separatist group, and then reference it at least once or twice somewhere else.

For Dooku I won’t get into any detail. He’s just Sidious’s apprentice next in line after Maul. It’s a shame to leave out all the subtlety but as you said it’s not well put together anyway. His identity is tied too much to the AotC bonkers mystery plot and I’m trying to cut out 98% of that movie.

Ok, now I understand the problem you were worried about.
Maybe you could use an A.I. voice to change Palpatine‘s line to „…the increasing thread of separatists like the trade federation.“ (or something more eloquent).

I have an idea, I don’t know if it would work in practice. I think it would be interesting to start the story with some of the clone wars scenes shown in the series.

I say this because Ahsoka, in theory, starts in the series with a conflict, right? However, the public only discovers that she is conflicted in episode 5. Personally, I think that focusing on the character’s development is more interesting than the quest to prevent Thrawn from returning. This is Ahsoka’s series, after all. Showing her conflict right away would serve to introduce the character in a more appropriate way than fighting robots in a temple, serving to tell her personal journey since the beginning of the story.

That said, I think it would be interesting to show some of these scenes as a dream of Ahsoka, and show her waking up from this dream in that scene with Hyuang on the ship, and only after that begin the plot of Ezra/Thrawn’s search. Later on, when Baylan knocks her into the water, the focus would be on the world between worlds sequence, where she would get the motivation to move forward, leaving the conflict behind.

Hmm, that sounds interesting.

Spinning that thought further, maybe you can use this dream sequence to infer that this fear of her what her legacy will be is the reason for her falling out with Sabine.

The question is, how can we convey that?

AHSOKA - A TWO-PART MINISERIES EDIT (Released)

I like the shortened dialogue between Baylan and Hayle. In fact, I played around with the same scene today. I was struggling with the loose “Sakris…” line because, without the rest of the line about the empire, the shot of Hayle is very short. I ended up removing that piece of dialogue too and reduced the line to:

“Scan these imposters for identification.”

Can you upload that scene individually here on the thread, to compare the result? If not, can you send me a PM?

How would you pull that off, and how would the structure benefit from that change?

I haven’t thought about it too much, but maybe show a shortened version of Ahsoka getting the map with no self-destructing droids, she takes it to the New Republic to entrust them with it, then they raid the ship and take it. There’s no footage of them taking it from there so it will have to be implied. I don’t know. But there is footage of Ahsoka having it on Home One I think.

Ahsoka hands it over to Hera during their meeting where they discuss the attack on the transport, which has to come after the raid. Apart from that there is no scene of Ahsoka on any NR ship if I am not mistaken.

But that problem aside, you could add a shot of the map on a pedestal to the cell that Baylan opens. The simplest way to achieve that might be to edit a still image of the map sitting on the pedestal on Seatos and place it in the foreground of the shot showing Baylan standing outside the open cell from Morgan’s perspective. To sell it even better you could add a digital focus shift from Baylan to the map or vice-versa.

Someone in Smudger’s thread spawned the idea of removing episode 1 almost entirely and starting with the Corellia investigation instead.

Sadly, I had no time to spare at the time, but now I have thrown together a quick mock-up of that idea.

The general structure is this:
-slightly altered crawl, that explains the state of the galaxy and why Ahsoka and Hera are on Corellia
-opening on Corellia, intercut with the introduction of Sabine
-Hera reports to the NR
-new scene, featuring Sabine observing Purrgil traveling past Lothal (new call to action)
-Jailbreak, introduction of Baylen and Shin
-Sabine contacts Ahsoka
-opening of the map
-Ahsoka and Sabine meet

Apart from the structural change, I only boosted the colors (a lot).

If anyone is interested in giving feedback, just notify me. The edit is about 40 minutes long.

I like the ideas of moving the Corellia story first, makes more sense but how would you create Sabine observing the Pergils on Lothal?

I used the shot of Baylan seeing a silhouette of a purrgil through the clouds, while on Seatos, applied some binocular filter, and tinted the footage to give the impression of infrared sight.

Here is the clip:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-aMXsVQGwn7XhvEnSnORrV7G83zxovq9/view?usp=share_link

Sadly the compression is killing the quality.

Edit: Hey, drive fixed itself and displays the clip in 1080p.
